2014 & 2015 – Rebuilding School

On November 6th of 2013, super typhoon Haiyan (known as Yolanda in the Philippines) entered the Philippine area and caused catastrophic damage throughout much of the islands. Thousands were found dead and millions of people were impacted and in dire need of food, water, shelter and medical supplies. Although rehabilitation of the devastated areas is still ongoing, the National Federation of the Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA Region V) was able to raise $25,000 to rebuild a school in the town of Salvacion, Ormoc, Aklan, Philippines through fundraising events. The school had been completely devastated but over time the school was rebuilt to continue the children’s education as well as serve as a shelter for other category 5 typhoons.
