Saklolo Fundraising Event 2013
When the central Philippines was in the path of devastation by a category 5 typhoon Haiyan (known in the Philippines as Yolanda) - a second tropical depression also came not too long after; thousands were found dead and millions of people are impacted and in dire need of food, water, shelter and medical supplies. Several fundraising events occurred to assist with financial aid to national organizations such as the American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and World Vision, just to name a few.
Local Filipino organizations have banded together to continue fundraising efforts through an event called Saklolo, which took place on December 15, 2013 “Saklolo" is the collaboration of all the Filipino organizations here in Colorado spearheaded by the National Federation of Filipino American Association (NaFFAA) Region 5.
‘Saklolo’ means an appeal for help. That’s what events around Colorado are being called: their plea for assistance for the home country.
